The City of Ottawa in combination with the Ottawa Tourism and the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group (OSEG) will be submitting a proposal to bring the 2017 CrossFit Games East Regional to Canada. CrossFit recently released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for all regional events next year.
If Ottawa is awarded the regional event, it would be the first time since the Super Regionals were formed that the East Regional was in Canada. In 2015, it was held in Hartford, Connecticut, and this past year it was in Albany, New York.
Jody Mitic, the Ottawa Sports Commissioner said, “As Sports Commissioner, it was the second call I made after taking on the role. My first call was to the UFC which produced an incredible fan experience all while bringing big dollars to our city’s restaurants, hotels, and destination sports. I think people would see similar benefits if CrossFit came to town.”
The final proposals are due October 15.
