The names on the roster may be radically different, but Team NorCal is coming back for the 2017 CrossFit Games season. Gone are the days of Jason Khalipa, Miranda Oldroyd and Pat Barber on the infamous 2015 NorCal team.

The 2017 version brings back two of the women from that year, Molly Vollmer and Jen Cadmus (formerly Zambruno). Replacing Oldroyd is Colleen Fotsch. Fotsch finished 7th at the California regional last year and Vollmer took 11th. The fourth womam on the team is Britt Blanco. She made it to Regionals last year, but withdrew after the first event.

The men’s side of the roster includes 2015 NorCal CrossFit team member Alex Rollin, Chris Detmering and Raphael Durand. In 2016, Detmering placed 16th at the California regional. Durand finished 38th in the Open in the Northern California region and Rollin did not compete last year.

On top of a collection of great athletes, the team will be coached by Chris Spealler. Spealler began Icon Athlete after he retired from individual competition and coached Garret Fisher to last year’s CrossFit Games. This year, Spealler is providing the programming for Team NorCal as they look to make it to Madison this August.

But there is not just one NorCal team this year. In addition to Team NorCal, NorCal CCrossFit Redwood City has two teams gearing up for the Open. Team NC Fit Redwood City also has a team of athletes that is looking to make it to regionals as well.
