Thuri Helgadottir represented Iceland Friday morning in Thailand at the 2019 IWF World Championships. Helgadottir competed in the 59kg D session.
Helgadottir entered the competition with a shoulder injury that limited her training in the weeks leading up to Worlds. She still finished with an 80kg (176lb) snatch and 103kg (227lb) clean & jerk.
Both lifts, however, were under her personal bests of 87kg snatch and 108kg clean & jerk.
Check out Helgadottir’s lifts below.

My fourth World Championships in the books 📖🏋️♀️ I went from snatching for the first time in almost 4 weeks when I arrived here on Tuesday to snatching 80 kilos today 🙏 It was not totally pain free, but I don’t feel any worse now 🤞🏻 I was not excited at all to be here and when I came to the warm up area this morning before the comp I was not sure that I would be able to snatch much more than 65 kilos or even compete at all, because it would not be worth any more pain. I just thought about one lift at a time and it turned out so much better than expected 🙌 Sometimes it feels soo good to have no expectations at all and no pressure. (Ok felt a little pressure from myself and others to compete..) BUT I had so much fun today && I can’t wait for the next one 🥳 I will be healed by then, I can just feel it ❤️😻 I lifted 72-75-80kg/95-101-103kg #iwf #worldchampionships #pattaya #thailand #thankful #smallbutmighty 🐭
