If you thought you were going to see Angelo DiCicco, the three-time CrossFit Games Team athlete, sorry. The Walmart Angelo DiCicco is in fact Bryson DelMonte. Why? Well, they both have a mustache.
Bryson was convinced he could beat Rich Froning’s time from 12 years ago. Then he started the workout. The workout, “Chipper”, is from the 2012 CrossFit Games.
For time:
10 Overhead squats (155 / 105 lbs)
10 Box jump overs (24” / 20” box)
10 Fat bar thrusters, (135 / 95 lbs)
10 Power cleans (205 / 125 lbs)
10 Toes to bar
10 Burpee muscle-ups
10 Toes to bar
10 Power cleans (205 / 125 lbs)
10 Fat bar thrusters, (135 / 95 lbs)
10 Box jump overs (24” / 20” box)
10 Overhead squats (155 / 105 lbs)
Froning finished the event in 7:06.
DelMonte did not beat Rich. Those last 10 box jump overs…woof. He finished in 9:54. But to Bryson’s credit, that time would be good for 24th, tied with Pat Burke. Rob Forte finished in 10:58. Chris Spealler in 9:59.
