Following yesterday’s IWF Executive Board meeting, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) voted in principle on how to reallocate 19 quotas resulting from recent doping violations. The vote is still subject to the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) approval, but it is highly unlikely that USA Weightlifting will be the recipient of an additional quota.

The redistribution was allocated in a method that would keep it balanced between continents. Here are the distributions for each region/country:

  • Africa
    • Kenya (Male)
    • Mauritius (Female)
    • Morocco (Female)
  • Asia
    • Qatar (Male
    • Sri Lanka (Male)
    • Iraq (Female)
    • United Arab Emirates (Female)
  • Europe
    • Greece (Male)
    • Israel (Male)
    • Finland (Female)
    • Latvia (Female)
    • Sweden (Female)
  • Oceania
    • Nauru (Male)
    • Solomon Islands (Female)
  • Pan-America
    • Chile (Male)
    • Guatemala (Male)
    • Argentina (Female)
    • Peru (Female)
    • Uruguay (Female)

Based on this list, it does not appear that France will not receive another quota.
