2023 Madrid Championship Prize Purse at €170,000 and Growing

The 2023 Madrid Championship will feature even more athletes this year and, depending on ticket sales and partner/sponsorship participation, the prize purse could grow considerably too. Already as one of the largest CrossFit competitions in the world, the 2023 Madrid Championship will be even bigger with 2,800 athletes participating this fall.

And with that comes an even larger prize purse. Similar to the Rogue Invitational, the prize purse for the 2023 Madrid Championship can grow as more spectator tickets are purchased and partners and sponsors sign up.

Right now, the prize purse is at €170,000, the same as it was last year. However, that number will likely grow over the next three months are more spectator tickets are sold and sponsors partner with the event organizers.

The 1st place elite individual winners are currently slated to each receive €30,000, the same as last year. Second place will earn €15,000 and third place will take home €6,000.

The podium for elite teams also has a great prize purse. €20,000 is up for grabs to the winner with 2nd and 3rd taking home €12,000 and €6,000, respectively.

There is also prize money available for RX Teams and individual masters divisions.

The 2023 Madrid Championship will once again be held at the Caja Mágica in Madrid, Spain. If you remember, this is also where the 23.1 CrossFit Open live announcement was held. The in-person championship will take place over four days from September 7-10, 2023.

The online qualifier was held back in April. Some familiar names are near the top of the leaderboard, especially if you watched the Europe Semifinal earlier this month. Athletes such as Oihanna Moya, Nooortje Bleeker, Jennifer Muir, Valentina Rangel, Aline Wirz, Giorgos Karavis, Luka Vunjak, Uldis Upenieks, Alex Kotoulas and Michal Wesolowski have already qualified for the championship in September.

Additional athletes will be invited to compete in the elite division including the Top 10 from the 2023 CrossFit Open, individual CrossFit Games athletes from 2020-2022, the top 60 European National Champions and wildcards from competitions in collaboration with the Madrid Championship.

Last year, Emma Tall held off Emma McQuaid on the women’s side while Lazar Djukic took the top spot over several Games veterans.
