The leaderboard of the Rogue Invitational’s Online Qualifier, The Q, had quite the shake up yesterday evening. Four days after the online qualifier wrapped up, The Q’s leaderboard was updated with many athletes’ scores turning to 0.
Earlier in the week, Travis Mayer shared that his Workout #1 video submission was rejected after he failed to weigh each of his Rogue Fitness bumper plates on video before his workout. The mistake, which Mayer said is his own fault, bumped him down the leaderboard and out of a qualifying spot for the Rogue Invitational.
Now, it appears that over 25 athletes who submitted scores in The Q have had a workout submission rejected. The exact number is unclear as it is unknown whether some athletes failed to submit a score for a workout or if their score was rejected. However, many athletes who were at the top of the leaderboard and in a qualifying spot (at least the top 5 will qualify to compete at the Rogue Invitational) are now way down the leaderboard.
Scott Tetlow, Manon Angonese, Andrea Solberg and Ro Scott were all in the top 5 and appeared to be headed to the Rogue Invitational, but had a workout invalidated. They are now out of contention and will not qualify.
And with the invalidated scores, Olivia Kerstetter, who was in 3rd place overall earlier in the week is now in 1st place above Anikha Greer, who held the top spot before the scores were removed from the leaderboard yesterday. While both will still receive an invite to compete in Austin this October, Kerstetter will now be the recipient of a custom Rogue Fitness barbell…the prize for winning the qualifier in the RX division.
Many of the invalidated scores appear to be due to failing to weigh the bumper plates, like in Mayer’s situation. Mayer and Benoit Boulanger both stated that they did not fully read the workout instructions, all 38 pages, and realize they needed to weigh the bumper plates on their video submission. Ro Scott shared that she did not weight “every” plate used in the workout in an Instagram story. Scott’s Workout #3 score was rejected.
The Rogue Invitational has yet to address the changes in the leaderboard or announce that the leaderboard is final, but the shake up is not what anyone in the sport wants to see. As of right now, some of the top athletes will have to sit out the Rogue Invitational, not because of their fitness level, but because they failed to follow the video submission standards.
Currently, the top 5 men and women are as follows:
1) Chandler Smith
2) Jorge Fernandez
3) Jack Farlow
4) Tim Paulson
5) Colten Mertens
1) Olivia Kerstetter
2) Anikha Greer
3) Bailey Rogers
4) Kristine Best
5) Jessi Smith
