Luka Đukić and Nicole Heer stood atop the men’s and women’s leaderboard, respectively, at this year’s Belgrade Games this past weekend. However, their path to the top took much different routes.
Heer started off strong with two event wins and never looked back. She finished with 29 points, well ahead of Karin Freyova who took second place with 52 points. Leah Storen rounded out the podium.
CrossFit Games rookie Siria Meha was also in the field. She took 6th overall.
Another story in the women’s field was the return of Rebecka Vitesson. After tearing her ACL at the 2024 French Throwdown last May, Vitesson stepped onto the competition floor this past weekend. Vitesson ended the competition with an event win and took 4th place overall.
On the men’s side, Đukić was in contention early, but a 15th place on the Belgrade Biathlon on Saturday set him back. However, he stormed back to the lead on following that event with four consecutive top 3 event finishes.
Đukić was joined on the podium by Anestis Artemis in second place and Nika Maisuradze in third.
Following his win, Đukić shared how much it meant to win the Belgrade Games this year. “I’m not going to lie, even with all the circumstances, not winning @belgradegames last year hurt a lot,” explained Đukić. He continued, “At the beginning of the summer, I committed that no matter how hard it would be, I would focus on competing at the @belgradegames and trying to win it, even though I had another competition just five days earlier on the other side of the world.”
