The 2023 Rogue Invitational Prize Purse Topped $1.6 Million. How Much Did Each Athlete Earn?

The Rogue Invitational is the most exclusive field in the sport of CrossFit. With a field of 20 men and 20 women, it is more difficult to qualify for than the CrossFit Games itself. But for those who are fit enough to step onto the competition floor at Dell Diamond Stadium, the prize purse and other perks are well worth the trip to the Lone Star State.

In addition to guaranteed prize money for all athletes, Rogue Fitness also provides a travel stipend and hotel accommodations for those competing. And then there’s the swag. Check out everything the athletes walked away during check-in this year.

But while the swag is great, the prize money is even better. The total prize purse this year topped out at $1,629,676.17! That was shared between the CrossFit athletes and the Strongman competitors. But of that, the CrossFit side shared $1,303,741, or 80%, of the prize purse.

The total prize money is the biggest of any off-season competition and second to only the CrossFit Games. The prize money for 1st place at the CrossFit Games this year was $315,000. The prize money for 1st place at the 2023 Rogue Invitational was $280,304.30.

The prize money at the Rogue Invitational fluctuates every year based on participation within the community as Rogue adds to the prize purse for every ticket sold, registration fees from “The Q” and “The C”, Rogue Invitational apparel sold, sponsor contributions and the value of Bitcoin.

That last one, Bitcoin, made this year quite special. Rogue invested $275,000 of Bitcoin at a price of $16,000 earlier this year. As of yesterday, Bitcoin was trading around $34,500, an increase of 115%.

Added to the $1 million cash investment by Rogue, Bitcoin added approximately $590,000 to the prize purse. Combined with the incremental items listed above, the total prize purse ballooned to over $1.6 million this year.
