Last month when I confirmed that Bethany Flores had not received an invite to compete at the Rogue Invitational my immediate reaction was that Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr was going to compete. Of course, comments to the video I posted on Instagram ranged from those excited that Tia might be back on the competition floor to Bethany should have been invited to “It’s the Rogue INVITATIONAL, they can invite whoever they want!”
Well, Rogue made the announcement last night that Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr will be making her return to competition at the Rogue Invitational. And when Katrin Davidsdottir declined her invite (after initially accepting it), Bethany Flores took her spot.
So Tia’s competing. So it Bethany. And Rogue got to invite whoever they wanted. Call it a win-win-win!
With Tia’s announcement, the 20-athlete field is now known for the women and the men.

The last time Toomey-Orr lost an in-person competition was at the 2017 Pacific Regional where she finished 2nd behind Kara Webb (now Saunders). Since then she has won six CrossFit Games titles, one Regional, two Wodapalooza competitions, the Rogue Invitational three times, the Mayhem Classic, and two Semifinal competitions.
But for Tia, the Rogue Invitational will be just over five months since she gave birth to her daughter, Willow. She will face the now defending champion, Laura Horvath, along with Emma Lawson, Arielle Loewen, Gabrielle Migala, Alex Gazan and more.
The Rogue Invitational is a three-day competition at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas (just outside Austin) from October 27-29, 2023. Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased here.
