WFP Eliminates Challenger Division, Changes Season Points & How to Qualify in 2026

This afternoon the World Fitness Project announced the key dates of its 2026 season. The number of events remained the same as last year, but there are some notable changes to how the season will work.

NO CHALLENGER DIVISION

In 2025, there were two divisions at the two Tour Stops. The Pro Division included the 20 signed Pro athletes plus 10 Challengers who qualified via the online qualifier. Then, there was the Challenger Division that included 20 Challengers who finished 11th to 30th in the online qualifier.

In 2026, there is just one big Pro Division featuring 50 men and 50 women who will compete at the Tour Stops in Mexico City and Indianapolis.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR TOUR STOP 1

With one large 50-athlete field, the WFP has changed how the Tour Stop 1 field will be selected. The 50-athlete field will be comprised of the 2026 Signed Pros, WFP Finals finishers, up to 5 invited athletes and a minimum of 15 athletes from the online qualifier.

  • 2026 Signed Pros (20 athletes)
  • 21st – 30th place finishers from the 2025 WFP Finals (10)
  • Special Invites (up to 5)
  • Qualify via the online qualifier (minimum of 15)

The changes guarantee that the athletes who competed at the 2025 WFP Finals have a spot at 2026 Tour Stop 1. Athletes who did not earn their Pro Card, like Luka Djukic, Noah Ohlsen, Fee Saghafi, etc, do not have to do the first online qualifier in order to compete at the Tour Stops.

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR TOUR STOP 2

The 50-athlete field will be filled a little differently for Tour Stop 2 in Indianapolis. Here is how the WFP will determine who competes in Indianapolis.

  • 2026 Signed Pros (20 athletes)
  • Top Challenger from Tour Stop 1 (1)
  •  Special Invites (up to 5)
  • Qualify via the online qualifier (minimum of 24)

HOW TO QUALIFY FOR WFP FINALS

The 30 athletes with the most season points after Tour Stop 2 will receive an invite to compete at the WFP Finals in December. Unlike 2025, the signed Pro athletes are not guaranteed a spot at the WFP Finals.

SEASON POINTS

In 2025, athletes were given points based on their overall finish at each Tour Stop and the WFP Finals. For example, 1st place at the 2025 Tour Stop 1 received 500 season points. Second place received 485 season points.

In 2026, athletes will receive the total number of points earned during the event. So on the 2025 Tour Stop 1 leaderboard, Alex Gazan finished the weekend with 490 points. That will now be how many season points Gazan would earn this upcoming season.

At the WFP Finals, athletes will start with the season points they have accumulated through the first two Tour Stops. Because the WFP Finals will have more workouts, it will be weighted more heavily than the individual Tour Stops.

EVENT PRIZE PURSE

Last month the WFP published the guaranteed contracts for the 2026 signed Pro athletes. Given the Pro Division at the Tour Stops has increased from 30 to 50 athletes, it is not yet been announced whether the prize money for the individual Tour Stops and 2026 WFP Season will change.
