On Friday, Dave Castro mentioned during his interview with Dallin Pepper that there would once again be cuts at the 2024 CrossFit Games. Since that comment we’ve been waiting on specifics, but they have finally be announced.
The cuts, while similar to last year, are different. Let’s take a look at how the field will be cut at the 2024 CrossFit Games…
INDIVIDUALS
All 40 athletes will take on the events Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. After the Saturday morning event(s), the field will be cut to 30 athletes for the remaining Saturday afternoon and evening events.
The field will be cut again at the end of Saturday, leaving the top 20 athletes to compete on Sunday.
TEAMS
This year 30 teams qualified for the CrossFit Games. All 30 teams will complete the events on Thursday and Friday when the field will be cut to 20 teams. Those top 20 teams will take on Saturday’s events before the field is cut down to the top 10 heading into Sunday.
CUTS AT 2023 CROSSFIT GAMES
Last year, the 40-athlete individual field was cut down to the top 30 Friday night after six events. Then on Saturday night the field was whittled down to the top 20. Those 20 athletes then took on the final three events on Sunday.
In the team division, 38 teams began the competition, but it was reduced to the top 30 Friday night after five events. Then after four events on Saturday, the field was once again cut to 20 for the final two events on Sunday.
The 2024 CrossFit Games will be Ft. Worth, Texas, for the first time. Athletes will compete four days from August 8-11 at Dickies Arena. Friday night will be at the nearby Farrington Field.
