Just two years after Ricky Garard failed a drug test at the 2017 CrossFit Games, Ben Garard, Ricky’s brother, failed a drug test on April 16. Garard, who had just withdrew from competing as an individual at the Down Under CrossFit Championship, tested positive for GW1516 sulfoxide and GW1516 sulfone, which are metabolites of GW1516. This appears to be the same substance, Endurobol, that Ricky tested positive for.
Ben Garard has been suspended from CrossFit competitions for four years, beginning on May 17, 2019, the day the Down Under CrossFit Championship was set to begin. Ben Garard finished 15th at the 2015 CrossFit Games. He was working to get back to the Games this year as an individual competitor.
His brother, Ricky, is still serving his suspension through 2021.
