CrossFit Details Scoring Adjustments, Appeals Granted & Ineligible Teams from 2024 Team Quarterfinals

CrossFit has published its list of ineligible teams, penalties and appeals granted during the 2024 CrossFit Games Team Quarterfinal internal review process. In the week following the conclusion of Team Quarterfinals, CrossFit conducted its video review of submitted workouts and validated teams’ eligibility, as outlined in the 2024 CrossFit Games rulebook.

INELIGIBLE TEAMS

Three weeks ago we shared that multiple teams had been disqualified from the 2024 CrossFit Games season as a result of a team athlete doing an Open workout from a location other than their registered affiliate. Most notably were CrossFit CLT Grit Haus and CrossFit Kilo II, both teams that competed at the 2023 CrossFit Games.

In total, 11 teams were deemed ineligible for violating Section 1.13 (Team Eligibility Requirements) of the CrossFit Games rulebook.

For its video review process, CrossFit selected Workout 1 to review and assess the team met movement and video requirement standards.

If CrossFit found that a team should have been no-repped during the burpee or front squat portion of the workout, a time penalty was calculated for each no-rep and subtracted from the 2-minute window [Note: CrossFit did specify the amount of time subtracted for each no-rep]. Any ring muscle-ups completed after the adjusted working time were removed from the team’s score.

In total, 136 scoring adjustments were assessed during the video review process. Of those, 17 were deemed major penalties with a scoring adjustment of 15% or greater.

APPEALS GRANTED

CrossFit did, however, change several scores after an appeal was filed. In total, CrossFit added back reps to 10 teams that had filed an appeal.
