The 2024 CrossFit Games will start early on Thursday morning. In Dave Castro’s latest Week in Review, he announced that the individual athletes will take on Event 1, Run Swim, at 7:00 AM (Central Time) Thursday morning.
Castro added that the week of the Games he will take the demo team out to Marine Creek Lake and have them test the workout at 7:00 AM to see how the heat affects them. Castro said he was open to moving the start up an hour to 6:00 AM if needed.
The official start of Run Swim had not been announced, but the Instagram post revealing the workout had a reminder set for 9:00 AM Thursday morning. So if you had used the Reminder feature in Instagram, make sure to set your alarm two hours earlier.
Concerns about the heat and outdoor events have been a concern with athletes and the PFAA since Ft. Worth was announced as the new home of the CrossFit Games. While most of the events will be inside Dickies Arena, there will be two outdoor events – Run Swim on Thursday morning and Friday Night Lights at Farrington Field.

The 10-day forecast for Ft. Worth shows highs generally in the mid-90s (35 Celsius) and lows in the 70s. Hourly projections for the next several days show temps to be in the upper 70s to low 80s around 7:00 AM. As for the night, current temps are in the upper 80s to mid 90s between 8-10 PM.
As for the Run Swim course, it appears that athletes will be running approximately 3.5 miles and swimming close to 1/2 mile across Marine Creek Lake.Â
