Semifinals are behind us and we are now just 41 days until the start of the 2024 CrossFit Games. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Ricky Garard are headed back this season – one looking for her 7th Games title and one looking to capture the crown for the first time. And with one more data point from Semifinals, the #1 spot in The Spin Top 25 Media Poll has changed on the men’s side.
Jeff Adler has returned to the top spot, earning nine of the 18 first place votes. Adler, the reigning CrossFit Games champion, edged overtook Garard this month, despite the Aussie winning the Oceania Semifinal. Roman Khrennikov, also one of the favorites this season, is ranked 3rd, but only received two first-place votes. No other male athlete received a vote to win the 2024 CrossFit Games.
The biggest jump up the standings was Gui Malheiros, moving up five spots from 21st to now 16th. Malheiros won the South America Semifinal after a disappointing 2023 season. James Sprague and Jelle Hoste both improved their rankings four spots over last month’s poll.
As for newcomers, Austin Hatfield, Henrik Haapalainen, Victor Hoffer, Jack Rozema, Moritz Fiebig and Aniol Ekai all made their debut to the Top 25 this month. Hatfield, 20th, is the highest ranked rookie in the men’s field.
The women’s side was not as close with Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr running away with the top spot. Toomey-Orr, returning to competition after taking a year off to have a baby, received 15 of the 18 first-place votes. In her comeback season, Toomey-Orr won five of the six events at the North America East Semifinal.
The other three first-place votes went to the 2023 CrossFit Games champion, Laura Horvath. No other woman received a first-place vote this month.
Rounding out the top three was once again Emma Lawson. Alex Gazan and Gabriela Migala rounded out the top 5, all unchanged from May.
The biggest winner this month was Abigail Domit. She rocketed up the leaderboard after winning the North America West Semifinal. Domit now sits in 14th, an 11-spot jump from last month. Grace Walton, a rookie, moved up three spots to 17th. She is also the highest ranked female rookie.
New to the Top 25 are Aimee Cringle, Jacqueline Dahlstrom and Seher Kaya.
