Paddleboard is Returning to the CrossFit Games

Dave Castro surprised the individual athletes in 2015 by introducing the paddleboard. Long rumored at the Games, Castro decided to break it out that year in combination with two 500-meter swims.

This year Castro is bringing back the prone paddleboard for the individual athletes. In an Instagram post, Castro shows Demo Team member McKenzie Flinchum carrying a paddleboard into Lake Monona.

In 2015, Khan Porter and Noah Ohlsen did well taking 2nd and 3rd in Pier Paddle. Kara (Webb) Saunders, Chyna Cho and Tia-Clair Toomey took 1st, 3rd and 4th, respectively.

But with Wednesday already filled up, Thursday as a rest day and Friday morning kicking off with The Battleground, the question is when will Castro throw this at them. There is an event named “Chaos” on the Games schedule for Saturday with no details listed at this time. Might we see the athletes in the water on Saturday morning?
