Ryan Elrod Suspension Ends, Registers for 2020 CrossFit Open

Ryan Elrod was suspended in 2017 by CrossFit after failing a drug at the Atlantic Regional. Elrod, who finished 5th, had qualified for the CrossFit Games before being notified that he had tested positive for a prescription fertility medication.

Elrod was taking the fertility medication help he and his wife get pregnant. According to Elrod, he had not been taking the medication for several months once his wife had confirmed she was pregnant in February. Elrod tested positive in June at the Atlantic Regional.

Elrod’s suspension was for two years, which means he can now compete in CrossFit-sanctioned events.

Elrod wasted no time as he has already registered for the 2020 CrossFit Open. Elrod, now 36, will compete in the Masters 35-39 division.
