On Saturday, Sam Briggs reached out to the CrossFit community to help her get a visa to travel to the United States and compete at the 2018 CrossFit Games. Briggs said she had about one day to get everything sorted out before it was too late to make the trek over the Atlantic Ocean.
After that post (which has now been deleted from Instagram), Briggs shared a surprising photo last night of her in Madison, Wisconsin. Briggs was helped by the Office of Field Operations within the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Now that Briggs is in Madison, she can begin preparing for Day 1 of the Masters competition on Wednesday.
This is not the first time Briggs has encountered visa issues. Two years ago Briggs had similar issues getting to the States. That time she also asked the CrossFit community for help and was able to squeak into the States at the last second.
Briggs’ visa issues likely stem from the year she lived in the United States during 2015. It is rumored that she overstayed her visa which has complicated her travel back to the States these last few years.
