Last year only one male athlete, Logan Collins, finished the Fibonacci Final. Just like Redemption in 2016, Dave Castro has brought back a final event that few finished as a regular event in the middle of the following year’s events.
This year the Fibonacci Final will just be called Fibonacci. The event is on Friday and Castro promised that more men will finish the event. The time cap is still just 6 minutes, but it is not at the end of a 4-day stretch like it was last year.
On the women’s side, 27 women finished the Fibonacci Final under the 6-minute time cap. On top of that, the finish between Tia-Clair Toomey and Kara Webb will go down as the best finish to the CrossFit Games in history.
This year, however, Castro decided to change things up and add reps to the handstand push-ups to make it a little more challenging. This year the women will do the 5-8-13 HSPUs, just like the men.
For time:
5-8-13 reps of:
Parallette handstand push-ups
Double kettlebell deadlifts
Then, lunge 89 ft. with 2 kettlebells overhead
M 14-in. deficit, 2 203-lb. KB for deadlifts, 2 53-lb. KB for lunges
F 8-in. deficit, 2 124-lb. KB for deadlifts, 2 35-lb. KB for lunges
Time cap: 6 minutes
