Another Exit from Cookeville: Roman Khrennikov Headed Back to Madison

Roman Khrennikov broke the news on the Out of the Cage Podcast last night that he and his family are moving back to Madison, Wisconsin.

“Yeah, I’m just moving to Wisconsin. Madison. Maybe Saturday,” Roman said after Ricky Garard called him live on the show.

When asked why he was moving, Roman explained, “Yeah, it’s perfect. I love the state and city. It’s good. Actually, it’s so good for my son for education because he’s growing up. He’s almost five years old.”

The move marks a return to Madison for Roman. When he finally secured his visa in 2022, Roman lived in Madison, Wisconsin, as he prepared for the 2022 CrossFit Games.

If you remember, Roman was reunited with his wife and newborn son in July 2022, right before the Games. Then, in December 2022, he and his family moved to Cookeville, Tennessee, to train at CrossFit Mayhem.

He’s been in Cookeville ever since, until now.

Roman is the latest athlete to move out of Cookeville. While it does appear that Roman is still working with the Mayhem team (for now), he is at least the third major athlete to relocate out of Cookeville.

Haley Adams and Austin Hatfield have both left Mayhem and relocated back to their hometowns. Adams is now working with Coach El (Elcanah Senouvor) at Brute while Hatfield is now with the PRVN camp.

Khrennikov also announced yesterday that he had withdrawn from the Rogue Invitational, coming up next weekend. He said the injuries he suffered while competing at the WFP Indianapolis Tour Stop in August had not healed.
