Brooke Ence finished 14th at the 2015 CrossFit Games. Since then Ence has pursued an acting career and has battled an injury on top of working to get back to the Games. But even when Ence wasn’t at the top of her CrossFit game, she was creating a following on social media.
With the hashtag, #itmakesence, Ence has garnered over 850,000 followers on Instagram and over 80,000 followers on her YouTube channel. Ence’s success on social media has also earned her a nomination for a Shorty Award in the Sports category. Ence is up against JJ Watt, Katie Ledecky, Kevin Durant, Laila Ali and Serena Williams.
The Shorty Awards award the best influencers on the Internet and give out awards for different categories including Actor, Comedy, Fashion, Journalist and many more. Some of the awards are a bit odd…like “The Best Emoji of the Year.” (Our vote is the ‘meh’ 😐 ).
The 10th Annual Shorty Awards will be streamed live on YouTube and Twitter this Saturday, April 15th.
