CrossFit and Reebok Settle Royalty Lawsuit

Back in June, CrossFit, Inc. filed a lawsuit against Reebok. The claim was that Reebok was manipulating the sales and royalty calculations and owed CrossFit at least $4.8 million.

Fast forward three months, the two parties have agreed to a settlement. In a press release from CrossFit, Inc, the specific terms of the settlement agreement were not disclosed, but Reebok did pay CrossFit something as part of the settlement.

The agreement between the two parties has Reebok as the main sponsor of the CrossFit Games through the 2020 CrossFit Games season. It is unclear how this settlement will affect the Games going forward, but it does seem positive based on comments from Reebok’s President, Matt O’Toole.

Toole stated, “We look forward to our continued collaboration with CrossFit. Our brands are stronger together in the resolution of this dispute, which means great things on the horizon for the CrossFit community.”

All of this has been happening, however, while CrossFit’s founder, Greg Glassman, was interviewed saying the focus of CrossFit, Inc. will be on health rather than the Games. At the same time 30-40% of the CrossFit Media team was laid off.
