CrossFit Bans Charis Chan Four Years

Charis Chan was recently suspended by USA Weightlifting following a positive drug test from the 2015 USAW American Open and her subsequent failed appeal. Similar to the USAW’s four-year suspension, CrossFit has followed suit and has suspended Chan for a similar four years.

CrossFit’s sanction begins on April 1, 2016, the date of her original provisional suspension and lasts until April 2, 2020. The timing of ban effectively puts Chan out of five CrossFit Games seasons as she will not be able to compete in the 2020 CrossFit Open (unless the season is significantly altered).

During Chan’s in-competition drug test, Chan tested positive for epitrenbolone, a class of anabolic agents prohibited by CrossFit.
