Mike Egan Breaks Guinness World Record

Mike Egan broke the Guinness World Record today for the “most miles covered in a wheelchair in 24 hours.” Egan, an adaptive CrossFit Games athlete and Marine Corps veteran, covered 152.36 miles to break the record on Veterans Day.

The previous record was 113.4 miles.

While serving duty in Afghanistan in 2012, Egan’s life changed in an instant when he stepped onto an IED. In that moment, Egan became a bilateral amputee where he would undergo 40 surgeries and over a year in rehabilitation.

As part of the world record attempt, Egan partnered with ValorFit to raise money for veterans. Egan set up a GoFundMe and over $13,000 has been donated to the cause.
