Phil Hesketh is recovering from surgery this morning to repair a ruptured pec major. Hesketh did not, however, injure himself while doing ring dips or bench press. Instead, the injury occurred on the rugby field.
Hesketh played rugby a few weeks ago and collided with another player when things took a turn for the worse.
The pec injury is not Hesketh’s first. Hesketh tore his pec at the 2017 Regionals (along with everyone else).
In an Instagram post, Hesketh told his fans that this will not end his CrossFit career and that he will be back to compete in the new Games format. Hesketh also thanked his wife, Regional athlete Mia Akerlund, for her support while he begins his recovery.
Hesketh competed at the 2015 CrossFit Games where he finished 29th. Hesketh took 5th at this past year’s Meridian Regional.
