The Boys Interrupted made a visit to Dave Castro’s Ranch over the weekend. What was supposed to be a tour before heading to the SAP Center for an affiliate gathering turned into a three workout throwdown. Jayson Hopper, Justin Medeiros, Dallin Pepper and James Sprague completed three workouts at The Ranch.
The Throwdown was livestreamed by Matt Souza and published on the CrossFit Games YouTube channel.
Workout 1 was the Corn Sack Sprint from the 2020 CrossFit Games, the one where athletes had to grab a corn sack and then “sprint” up the hill.
Next, the Boys “modernized” King Kong.
King Kong was originally programmed by Rudy Nielsen, founder of The Outlaw Way. Nielson came up with King Kong back in 2010 and was widely considered one of the toughest workouts that combined strength and skill.
King Kong originally was…
3 rounds for time of:
1 Deadlift 455lbs
2 Muscle-Ups
3 Squat Cleans 250lbs
4 Handstand Pushups
The Boys modernized it as follows…
3 rounds for time of:
1 Deadlift 500lbs
2 Strict Muscle-Ups
3 Squat Cleans 275lbs
4 Freestanding Handstand Pushups
Finally, the Boys headed back outside for a workout programmed by Adrian Bozman.Â
For Time:
15 Burpees over Happy Star Rail
20 Kettlebell Snatch (70 lbs)
15 Burpees over Happy Star Rail
15 Kettlebell Snatch (70 lbs)
15 Burpees over Happy Star Rail
10 Kettlebell Snatch (70 lbs)
15 Burpees over Happy Star Rail
5 Kettlebell Snatch (70 lbs)
Yesterday, Dave Castro published a different angle of King Kong.
And then today, Andrew Hiller questioned what happened with this “event” and argued that it should not have been livestreamed, but instead be produced in a three-video series via post-production.
