Coffee Pods And Wods – Three CrossFit Affiliates are raising funds for Redemption Road CrossFit which aims to provide CrossFit for inmates in Colorado prisons. This gives the inmates purpose, direction, fitness and resilience and has grown to multiple facilities across the state. The money will go towards trainers, education, equipment and improving the facilities they use.

Jonny Davies joined Pedro to discuss the fundraiser and how you can get involved. There is a GoFundMe set up where you can donate and add to the over $19,000 already raised.

Here’s a summary of the key points:

Fundraiser Purpose: The workout is a fundraiser for Redemption Road, an organization that brings CrossFit to prisons (4:43-4:54). Pedro addresses some negative comments about the initiative, emphasizing its positive impact (4:54-5:14).

Workout Details: The workout is a three-part, 30-minute team workout (5:15-5:20) designed by three individuals:

Part 1 (0-10 minutes): Programmed by Jonny, it involves a 600-meter row and barbell clean and jerks (5:20-5:40). It’s designed to be shared and is not synchronized (5:48-5:50).
Part 2 (10-20 minutes): Programmed by J.R., it includes toes-to-bar and calorie echo bike, with both athletes working simultaneously (5:51-6:11). This is followed by 12 rope climbs (6:13-6:21).
Part 3 (20-30 minutes): Programmed by Jamie, it’s a “for time” segment of synchro burpees over the bar and squat clean thrusters (6:28-6:36).

Workout Logistics & Scaling:
Jonny shares how gyms can organize the workout, including staggering starts and using dumbbells instead of barbells to manage space (8:40-9:43).

There are also scaling options for individuals doing the workout alone (9:48-12:00), and for different movements like rope climbs (10:26-11:25, 16:36-17:33) and echo bikes (16:03-16:34).

Fundraising Efforts: They discuss the GoFundMe page for Redemption Road (12:08-12:16) and suggest using QR codes for donations (12:26-12:30). They also mention the possibility of a leaderboard and prizes for top scores (18:30-19:53).
