If you enjoy stories about moving into a new house, boy, this is the interview for you! Patty V took the interview from his car, probably because his internet still isn’t set up (which is why it was delayed from last week).
But from intriguing stories about moving boxes and unpacking, at least Pat was quite stylish…
Finally, about 17 minutes in Pedro was able to get Pat off the new house talk and into discussing the Rogue Invitational. Who said Pedro wasn’t great at interviewing athletes?
As for the 2025 CrossFit Games season, Pat remained non-committal about his plans for next year. Regarding the CrossFit Games he said he wants more information from CrossFit about the season structure before making a decision.
“There’s a very good chance that I take that route. I don’t think I see a lot of value in competing in the CrossFit Games season for myself at this point,” Vellner shared while discussing other avenues of competing outside of the official CrossFit Games season.
Vellner then spoke about the new, more online format of the Games season, “Candidly, I have no interest in competing online. I just don’t. It means nothing to me. It means very little to anybody who competes at a high level. I think it’s a joke.”
Vellner continued by saying he would rather pursue opportunities to compete in-person against his competitors.
That led to some discussion around Will Moorad’s new fitness league, World Fitness Project. Pat shared that he likes the vision that Moorad has of WFP and hopes that it can be executed properly.
Of course Pedro and Pat had to talk about the PFAA. Pat was, as you might expect, disappointed with CrossFit’s action items coming out of the investigation into Lazar Đukić’s death.
So while Pat’s 2025 season plans are not yet set in stone, he will be at TYR Wodapalooza this January. He will be competing in both the individual and team divisions. His teammates will be Jayson Hopper and Jeff Adler.
