The Women’s 69kg A Session is scheduled to be one of the last sessions of the weekend. Right now, it is scheduled for Sunday, December 11, at 1:00pm EST. Hands down favorite Mattie Rogers will be competing in her hometown. Rogers is out to reclaim her American Open title after failing to record a successful snatch last year following a tough month of competition.

Last year’s medalists were:

Place  Snatch Clean & Jerk Total
1 Danielle Hudes (89) Danielle Hudes (110) Danielle Hudes (199)
2 Allison Truscheit (88) Sylvia Hoffman (109) Sylvia Hoffman (192)
3 Amanda Miller (86) Natalie Johnson (103) Amanda Miller (188)

Here’s who to look out for this year…

Mattie Rogers will win the 69kg weight category if she posts a total. Rogers just missed out going to the Rio Olympics, and she will be out with a vengeance to start off the 2020 Quad. We may not see American Records that we were accustomed to seeing over the past year, but big weight will go up when Rogers is on the platform.

Danielle Hudes took advantage of Rogers’ bombing last year and went on to win the American Open. Hudes’ entry total has improved since last year’s event, but it won’t be enough to compete against Rogers’ best lifters. However, Hudes should make the platform if she hits her lifts on Sunday.

Kaley Anderson

Kaley Anderson took 5th at the 2016 USAW National Championships with a 193kg total. Anderson only went 3-for-3 and left weight on the platform. With Ariel Stevens still recovering from surgery and Sylvia Hoffman not competing this year, it leaves a spot on the podium up for grabs. Expect Anderson to battle with Amanda Miller for the final podium spot as both finished within 1kg at Nationals.
