Laura Horvath finished with a 208kg total in the 76kg weight category at the 2024 IWF World Championships in Bahrain earlier today. Horvath, competing for Hungary, went 5-for-6, only missing her second clean and jerk attempt.
But even with a near flawless day on the platform Horvath finished in 18th place overall, only ahead of Mattie Rogers who failed to record a successful snatch.
On the snatches, Horvath went 3-for-3, going 87/90/93 (205 pounds) on the day.
Horvath would follow that up with a 2-for-3 performance on the clean and jerk portion. Horvath made her first lift at 109kg. On her second attempt, she missed the 114kg jerk behind her.
With Aimee Anaya Everett helping coach Horvath, they bumped her final attempt up to 115kg to give her more time between lifts. It worked as Horvath made her final lift of the day to finish with a 208kg total.
The total is 3kg better than her performance at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships earlier this year. However, she did total 215kg at the 2023 Hungary National Championships in November 2023.
