Sara Sigmundsdottir shared that she received one of the special invites to compete at the World Fitness Project’s Tour Stop 1 (now) in London this May. Sigmundsdottir, who is continuing to attempt a comeback after a string of injuries and health issues, said her original 2026 plan was to compete at Tour Stop 2.
However, she received a special invite from Will Moorad and the WFP team for Tour Stop 1. So her plan now is to continue rehab in Arizona (at Jump Ship Phoenix) with the goal of stepping on the competition floor on May 1 in London.
As for the CrossFit Open, you won’t see Sigmundsdottir’s name on the leaderboard. That’s not because she doesn’t want to compete, but it is because she is trusting her coach and decided to not put her progress in jeopardy.
The decision to sit out the Open, however, was not made until the actual workout for 26.1 was revealed. “If there’s a lot of bounding, if there’s any workout that could possibly set me back or could possibly throw everything in the bin that I’ve been putting in for the last seven weeks, I just said it’s going to be a coach’s call because, of course, I want to do everything,” explained Sigmundsdottir.
And we all know that 26.1 came with a lot of wall balls and box jump overs. Apparently it was the box jump overs that were the concern as Signmundsdottir did a modified workout in the video above that still included all of the wall balls that were in 26.1.
It was the most wall balls she has done in a very long time.
As for the WFP special invites, Sigmundsdottir is the second athlete we know that received one. Noah Ohlsen shared he also received an invite after he failed to finish in the top 20 last season when he had to withdraw from the WFP Finals.
