Tia-Clair Toomey and Her Team Withdraw from Down Under Championship

In an Instagram story this afternoon (Thursday morning in Australia), Tia-Clair Toomey announced that she and her team are withdrawing from the Down Under Championship. Toomey was slated to compete with Brooke Wells and Ellie Turner in the women’s elite team division.

All three are in Australia, but it is unclear why the Games trio will not be able to compete. However, based on Toomey’s story it sounds like it might be because of Toomey herself. She said “I feel like I’m letting so many people down, including my team.” Could Toomey still be dealing with the back injury she suffered right before the Games?

But while the three won’t be on the competition floor, Toomey, Wells and Turner will be at the event to meet fans and participate in other activities.
