TYR Cup Competition Schedule Announced

The 2024 TYR Wodapalooza SoCal schedule has been released for the TYR Cup. Eight athletes on Team North America will square off against eight athletes on Team World with the winner taking home the TYR Cup and the $160,000 cash prize (split between the eight athletes).

The teams will take on 11 events over the course of three days. These events will feature different formats, from the CrossFit Games Team format (MMFF) to Miami Team (MMM or FFF) to All Hands (six members on a team working together). There are also individual events, spotlight events featuring monostructural, gymnastics and weightlifting. And finally there is a Captains event where the team captains will battle it out.

TYR Wodapalooza SoCal takes place from Friday, September 20, through Sunday, September 22. And now we have the blocks of time that the elite athletes will be taking the competition floor.

A quick look at the schedule, combined with the fact that the competition is on the west coast, shows that the competition will run to just shy of midnight in the Eastern Time zone.

For those in the UK, that means action will begin Saturday and Sunday morning around 3:00am. For Australia, the competition will take place right in the middle of the day…from noon to 2:00pm Sydney Time.

That leaves us with three events for the final time block to wrap up the inaugural TYR Cup. Event 9 is a 30-minute Monostructural Spotlight event. Event 10 is an Individual event where 3 men and 3 women will take on the workout with their total time deciding the event winner.

And then the final event, Event 11, is probably going to be the Captains Event. This is where the two captains from each team will work together. On top of that, the Captains Event is worth two points.
