Athletes Will Receive $3,000 for Event Wins at 2025 CrossFit Games

Athletes who win an event at the 2025 CrossFit Games will receive $3,000 again this year. Dave Castro announced the prize money up for grabs while on The Sevan Podcast Saturday night.

“At the end of every event, we’re going to call out the top male and female performers for those events, give them their $3,000 check because they’re going to win $3,000 and the title sponsor for that event is going to go out there and present them the check,” shared Castro.

The prize money for event wins is not new as it has been part of the prize money structure previously. However, the 2025 CrossFit Games rulebook did not explicitly outline that event wins would be part of the prize purse.

This year CrossFit tied the prize purse to the 2025 CrossFit Open registration and provided an exhibit in the rulebook showing how the prize money would be split between various stages of competition and final placement at the CrossFit Games. That exhibit did not include section for event winners at the Games.

The only hint that this prize money would continue this year was in Section 5.17 – GAMES – CASH PRIZES [NEW] section. “Event winners and other compensated athletes may be required to present valid identification to claim prizes.”

Further down in the same section, “Additional prizes may be presented by partners, sponsors, or select vendors, and all such prizes are also subject to applicable taxes, withholding, compliance with, and agreement to CrossFit’s prize affidavit.”

So this prize money is on top of the prize money that was outlined in the rulebook.

Right now it’s looking like there will be 10 scored events for individuals, meaning an additional $60,000 of prize money up for grabs. Now, the big question is…who will take home the event wins?
