Over the weekend, while all eyes were on the TYR Cup, Copa Sur dropped some really interesting news. Copa Sur has partnered with TCB, a Brazilian competition, ahead of the 2026 CrossFit Games season.
The top two athletes from the Men’s and Women’s Elite divisions at the 2025 TCB will qualify for the 2026 Copa Sur. In addition, both competitions will host a “unified” online qualifier for 2026. This qualifier is a “way for athletes from all over South America to secure their place on the international stage.”
The 2025 TCB Finals are this month, September 25-28, in Guarujá, São Paulo, Brazil.
While the announcement does not specifically state that the 2026 Copa Sur will be part of the CrossFit Games season, the caption on Instagram does say that “qualified athletes must fully comply with Copa Sur and CrossFit rules to be eligible for participation. More details will be announced soon.”
Last week CrossFit announced the season structure and dates of the 2026 CrossFit Games season. While we calling them Semifinals in 2026, it does appear that Copa Sur will remain a part of the season based on requiring athletes to follow the CrossFit rules to be eligible to qualify.
Details on the exact Semifinals and how to qualify for each have not yet been announced. However, last year athletes were required to finish in the top 1% of the CrossFit Open to be eligible to advance to later stages in the season.
This year we know that athletes must finish in the top 2000 of Quarterfinals next year to be eligible to compete in the Semifinals and/or Online Semifinals. This is likely the requirement that Copa Sur and TCB are referring to.
Copa Sur has been an official Semifinal (or IPQE in 2025) since the 2022 CrossFit Games season.
