Yesterday afternoon, Andrew Hiller shared two individual Semifinal events that were circulating. At the time many questioned whether they were the actual events, but hours later those questions were laid to rest. Approximately four hours after the ‘leak’, CrossFit published all of the individual and team Semifinal event descriptions to Instagram.
The two leaked events matched what was officially published, including the event number. Individuals will take on six events over the course of the three-day Semifinal while teams have five events over Friday and Saturday.
In the team and individual Semifinal registration emails sent to athletes, CrossFit indicated that all events would be known by Friday, May 10. Last year CrossFit rolled out the event details over the course of several days and was likely going to do the same this year.
However, with the leak it appears that schedule was abruptly accelerated. As of this morning, CrossFit had yet to publish the events on the CrossFit Games website.
With the first weekend of Semifinals coming up in two weeks beginning on May 16, athletes will now have ample time to test and prepare for Semifinals. Athletes in the North America East, South America and Africa regions have four weeks until they take the competition floor.
