Gui Malheiros to Compete at Torian Pro

Gui Malheiros is not eligible to qualify for the 2025 CrossFit Games. Malheiros, who did do all of the CrossFit Open workouts, announced in March he was not going to pursue the Games this season. As such, Malheiros finished 1,558th in the world in the Open, outside the top 1%.

But while Malheiros has stated his main focus this year is on the World Fitness Project (he finished 12th at Tour Event 1 this past weekend), Malheiros has accepted a special invite to compete at the Torian Pro in Australia later this month.

It will be Malheiros’ second In-Person Qualifying Event of the season. He competed at the Mayhem Classic in April.

Back in March when Malheiros explained why he was not competing in the CrossFit Games season, one of the reasons was the cost to travel to Copa Sur. He explained at the time, “There’s no better place to compete than Brazil. But you have to understand, I have to understand, as well, that this is my profession. So this is where I earn, this is where I pay my bills and everything else.”

He then spoke about how the WFP covers travel expenses, “On the other hand I have a contract with an organization that’s treating me as an athlete. That I’m a professional. So while I only get money to compete in the WFP, I don’t spend anything. They pay for my flight. They pay for my hotel and they pay me an annual salary to compete.”

Based on this reasoning you have to assume that Torian Pro is covering the cost to bring the four-time CrossFit Games veteran out to Australia.

The Torian Pro begins Friday, May 30, and runs through Sunday, June 1, in Brisbane, Queensland. The top 2 eligible men and women will earn a spot to compete at the 2025 CrossFit Games.
