Jonathan Edel has failed an in-competition drug test at the 2024 Masters CrossFit Games. CrossFit announced the results late yesterday evening. Edel, who won the men’s 40-44 age group division at the Masters Games, submitted a sample containing Anastrozole, exogenous steroids, and metabolites of GW501516.
Edel did not file an appeal and has received a four-year sanction running through September 1, 2028.Â
If you recall, Andrew Hiller called out Edel last month and accused the Masters champion of using performance-enhancing drugs.

With the failed test, Chicho Quesada will now take 1st place in the men’s 40-44 year-old division. Julian Serna moves up to 2nd place and Rudy Berger takes 3rd.
Edel’s sanction comes on the heels of Shawn Ramirez’s failed drug test. So far three athletes have tested positive while competing at the 2024 Masters CrossFit Games. Jamie McGarva, Shawn Ramirez and now Jonathan Edel.
McGarva and Edel have both received a 4-year sanction. Ramirez has appealed his drug test.
