The 2016 USAW American Open Series will take a look at two weight categories every weekday through Wednesday, December 7, the day before the start of the American Open.

Take a look at the previews already posted:
Women’s 48 | 53 | 58 | 63 | 69 | 75 | 90 | +90
Men’s 56 | 62 | 69 | 77 | 85 | 94 | 105 | +105

The Women’s 75kg A Session is scheduled for Sunday, December 110, at 1:00pm EST. In 2015, Jessie Bradley beat Jessica Phillips via the bodyweight tiebreaker. In doing so, Bradley set a new Junior American Record Snatch. This year, Phillips will not be competing as a result of her 14-month ban for taking an intervenous infusion. Bradley is back to defend her title, but Amy Hay’s entry total puts her in contention for the gold medal.

Last year’s medalists were:

Place  Snatch Clean & Jerk Total
1 Jessie Bradley (99) Jessica Phillips (118) Jessie Bradley (211)
2 Jessica Phillips (93) Jessie Bradley (112) Jessica Phillips (211)
3 Amy Hay (92) Amy Hay (110) Amy Hay (202)

Here’s who to look out for this year…

Amy Hay took 3rd place at last year’s American Open and followed it up with a 3rd place finish at this year’s National Championships. Hay’s 215kg total at Nationals was the best among those competing at this year’s Open. Look for Hay and Jessie Bradley to finish the snatch within a kilogram or two with the win coming down to the final clean and jerk.

Jessie Bradley is the defending American Open champion and she will likely need to have a great day on the clean and jerks to contend for the top of the podium. Bradley missed a 117kg clean and jerk twice in last year’s American Open and did the same thing at the 2016 National Championships. She will need to push past the 117kg threshold to beat a good performance by Hay.

Samantha Poeth

Samantha Poeth comes in with a 205kg entry total, 2nd best in the 75kg weight category. Poeth went 3-for-6 at the 2016 National Championships for a 206kg total, but left 7kg on the platform from missed attempts. A 206kg total should be in contention for a bronze medal, but if Poeth can hit one or both of her missed attempts at Nationals she could set herself up for a silver or even gold medal
