Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr had already qualified for the 2025 HYROX World Championships in the Mixed Doubles division with James Newbury. But in her third career HYROX race, Toomey-Orr paired up with Joanna Wietrzyk for the Elite 15 Pro Women’s Doubles division in Houston this past weekend.
Toomey-Orr and Wietrzyk would end up crossing the finish line in 54:24, good for 1st place overall. They beat another stacked team featuring Lauren Weeks and Lauren Griffith who took 2nd place with a time of 55:36.
Not only did Toomey-Orr and Wietrzyk win, they set the world record in the Elite Pro Women’s Doubles division previously set by Megan Jacoby and Linda Meier (55:02).
Both Toomey-Orr and Wietrzyk are new to elite HYROX competition. It was only Toomey-Orr’s third HYROX race ever, first in a Pro division.
Wietryzk, who is just 22 years old, made her debut in the Elite 15 division back in October 2024. She took 3rd place in that first race in Amsterdam. She followed that up with an event win at HYROX Hong Kong in November, where she beat the current world record holder in the Women’s Pro division.
Interestingly, Toomey-Orr lost to Wietryzk earlier this month in Brisbane. Wietryzk paired up with Hunter McIntryre in the Mixed Doubles division where they beat Toomey-Orr and Newbury.
This weekend, however, the two ladies teamed up, set a world record and qualified for the World Championships in June. The teams of Lauren Weeks/Lauren Griffith and Elena Rouco Chas/Morgan Schulz also qualified for the World Championships in the Elite 15 Pro Women’s Doubles division.
Toomey-Orr has now qualified in two divisions, Mixed Doubles and Elite Pro Women’s Doubles, for the World Championships. Wietryzk has qualified for the Elite 15, Mixed Doubles and now Elite Pro Women’s Doubles.
The 2025 HYROX World Championships are June 12-15 in Chicago, Illinois.Â
