When CrossFit announced the nine In-Person Qualifying Events, we only knew that the TFX Invitational was in Oklahoma in May. Today, in a collaborative post with Syndicate Crown and the CrossFit Games, we now know TFX will be May 16-18 at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The announcement comes as TFX and Syndicate Crown, another In-Person Qualifying Event in the United States, shared they are partnering up to maintain the same geographical competitive regions as last year.
That is, TFX will only allow athletes from the last year’s North America West region while Syndicate Crown will host athletes from the North America East region.
Athletes from the “East” will not be able to compete in the “West”…or vice versa. Additionally, athletes from outside North America will not be able to compete at either of these In-Person Qualifying Events.
QUALIFYING FOR TFX INVITATIONAL
The qualification process for TFX is a bit different than that of Syndicate Crown. TFX will invite the top 33 athletes in the CrossFit Open within the North America West region. An additional three men and women who podium in the Pro Division at the TFX Championship later this month will also be invited (as long as they also finish in the top 1% of the CrossFit Open).
In total, TFX will host 36 men and 36 women.
Unlike Syndicate Crown, the In-Affiliate Semifinal will not be used as a path to compete at TFX.
PATH TO THE CROSSFIT GAMES
The top 2 men and top 2 women at TFX will qualify for the 2025 CrossFit Games.
GEOGRAPHICAL RESTRICTIONS OR NOT?
TFX and Syndicate Crown join Africa’s Rebel Renegade Games in the decision to limit its participation based on geographic location.
Other In-Person Qualifying Events such as Torian Pro, French Throwdown, Wodland Fest and the Far East Throwdown have opened up their competitions to anywhere in the world. These four competitions have their own online qualifier outside of the CrossFit Open or In-Affiliate Semifinal (Torian Pro uses the Open plus a separately programmed “fourth week”).
No word yet on how the Mayhem Classic and Copa Sur will determine their fields.
