It’s no secret that Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr has been focused on HYROX over the past few months. From her first HYROX race with James Newbury in December to setting a world record with Joanna Wietrzyk earlier this month, Toomey-Orr has made strides within the HYROX space.
But with her venture into HYROX, where does that leave the seven-time CrossFit Games champion when it comes to competing in the 2025 CrossFit Games season?
That’s the big question…
Toomey-Orr finished 144th in the CrossFit Open, her worst finish since 2014 (excluding her pregnancy in 2023 and her wrist injury in 2024). Her placement was still well within the top 1%, a requirement to be able to qualify for this year’s CrossFit Games.
But will she attempt to qualify for the CrossFit Games? She has mentioned that she has not touched a barbell since the Rogue Invitational in November as she has spent her time running to prepare and train for HYROX.
In her latest video published yesterday Tia addresses her season plans…kinda.
After over 17 minutes into her 19-minute video, Tia finally shares her thoughts on competing this year. “My schedule is a little unknown only because I’ve really only planned up til [HYROX] World Champs,” shared Tia. She then said she will be competing at HYROX Atlanta in April before flying back to Australia for Torian Pro, one of the In-Person Qualifying Events of the 2025 CrossFit Games season.

“I will be flying back to Australia for the Torian Pro and securing my spot for the CrossFit Games,” Tia said.
So she’s going to the CrossFit Games in Albany! Not so fast…
Tia continued, “Then the next stop will be Chicago HYROX and as of now I’ve really only just planned til the Chicago World Champs because that really, at the start of the year, was the main priority.”
She then added, “Then I got an invitation to Torian Pro and I thought, ‘well, why not you know?’ Torian means a lot to me and it’s a competition that I think showcases CrossFit in such a great, positive light and, you know, being on home soil competing in front of an Australian crowd is just always so amazing and just lifts me up so much more.”
BUT…
Tia ends the episode with, “[I’m] unsure of what the season looks like after June.”
So will Tia qualify for the CrossFit Games? If she qualifies, will we see her on the competition floor in Albany, New York? Or will Torian be her last CrossFit competition?
Torian Pro is May 30 through June 1 in Brisbane, Australia. The top 2 men and top 2 women will qualify for the 2025 CrossFit Games.
The 2025 HYROX World Championships are in Chicago, Illinois, from June 12-15.
The 2025 CrossFit Games are August 1-3 in New Albany, New York.
