PFAA President Brent Fikowski & Pat Vellner Discuss Demands During Coffee, Pods & Wods Interview

On August 20, the Professional Fitness Athletes’ Association (aka the PFAA) released a statement with three demands necessary from CrossFit to “begin to restore athlete trust in CrossFit Sport.” The demands included transparency around the third-party investigation of Lazar Djukic’s death, creation of an independent safety team and the removal of Dave Castro from his position in the Sport Team.

While the statement on Instagram did not provide additional context, PFAA President Brent Fikowski penned an article in Men’s Health that was published concurrently with the PFAA’s statement. That article gave some insight into why Fikowski and the PFAA did what they did.

Then, over the weekend, Fikowski and fellow competitor and PFAA Athlete Board member Pat Vellner joined the Coffee, Pods and Wods podcast to discuss the PFAA’s statement and the reasoning behind them.

During the interview, Fikowski and Vellner share why the PFAA was created, who is eligible to be a PFAA member and the rationale behind their demands. You can watch the interview below.

Then on Sunday, The Sevan Podcast hosted an athlete roundtable with Saxon Panchik and Angelo Dicicco, both athletes who competed at the 2024 CrossFit Games. The two athletes shared their views on the PFAA and their recent demands.

Both held viewpoints that were in contrast to the demands made by the PFAA.
