When Alex Gazan suffered a broken fibula, or should I say a broken leg, in a car accident following the NorCal Classic earlier this year, it was unclear when she would make it back onto the competition floor. Early on Gazan had hopes she could recover enough to compete at the CrossFit Games, but she withdrew in early July.
Now, with the World Fitness Project Tour Stop 2 just two weeks away, Gazan has formally withdrawn from the competition.

With an open spot now available in the Pro division, Lydia Fish, who finished 12th in the online qualifier, will get the backfill invite. And with Fish moving up, Blair Chaney will receive a backfill invite to compete in the Challenger division. Chaney finished 37th in the online qualifier.
Gazan started out the inaugural season with a bang. Gazan won Tour Stop 1 in Indianapolis, earning her 500 points for the season. However, by sitting out Tour Stop 2 Gazan will take a hit against her fellow competitors heading into the WFP Finals this December.
Gazan joins two other signed Pro athletes who will not be competing in Mesa, Arizona, later this month. Emma McQuaid will miss her second WFP competition due to injury and Bethany Flores will not compete the remainder of the 2025 WFP season following the announcement of her pregnancy.
So, as of right now, only 17 of the original 20 signed Pro division women will be competing at Tour Stop 2.
There is, however, questions surrounding Alexis Raptis and whether she will compete later this month. During the CrossFit Games, we found out that Raptis was dealing with a back injury she sustained in the weeks leading up to Albany. Raptis ultimately still finished inside the top 10.
The WFP Tour Stop 2 is August 29-31 at the Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, Arizona.
