A portion of the Rogue Invitational prize purse is based on Bitcoin. For the 2024 Rogue Invitational, Rogue purchased $275,000 of Bitcoin at $35,000 per coin. Rogue will cover any losses to the Bitcoin value to maintain the $275,000. However, any increased value up to the competition results in an increased prize purse.
Last night, Bitcoin surged above $75,000, a record high, as investors believe Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election will be a positive for cryptocurrencies.
As a result, the prize purse of the 2024 Rogue Invitational increased nearly $25,000 overnight. The prize purse last night at 10:30pm Eastern was $1,785,847.51 as shown below.
This morning at 8:00am Eastern the prize purse was at $1,810,589.51. It has come back down to $1,808,188.44 as Bitcoin’s price has settled to $74,030 at the time of the this article.
As it stands now, first place in the “CrossFit” competition is just over $274,000 while the Strongman and Strongwoman winners are slated to receive nearly $120,000.
Of course, the prize purse is still not locked. So keep an eye on the price of Bitcoin as it could pad the earning opportunities for the athletes competing this weekend.
