During the CrossFit affiliate town hall meeting last week on October 24, it was shared with affiliate owners that information about the upcoming 2025 CrossFit Games season would begin to be announced in November. But it would not be until December that the dates for the 2025 CrossFit Open would be formally communicated.
Affiliates on the town hall call were told the goal is to get information to affiliate owners “earlier than ever before.” Last year CrossFit officially announced the structure and dates for the 2024 CrossFit Games on November 8.
However, according to the slides presented during the town hall, a campaign blueprint would be distributed to affiliate owners in December. That campaign blueprint will include dates, a season overview and high-level details of the 2025 CrossFit Games season.
Then in January and February affiliate owners will get access to an “Owner Success Kit” that provides steps to drive participation and run a successful Open. Additional assets such as posters, social media assets, badges and heat sheet templates would be made available.
All of this comes as rumors have been circulating about potential format changes to the season, including online Semifinals, athletes advancing to the CrossFit Games directly from the Open and the potential return of a Sanctional-like season.
Then, of course, you have rival seasons beginning to pop up. Earlier this week Will Moorad announced the creation of the World Fitness Project, a new fitness league that will be launched shortly.
While we still don’t have any official details on the 2025 CrossFit Games season, I guess this pretty much confirms the Games must go on.
