Is the World Fitness Project Launching an Affiliate Program?

The World Fitness Project is a new fitness racing league. All of the focus and discussion has been on the “Pro” card athletes and the Challengers who can compete with the goal of earning a pro card next year. However, it appears the WFP is in the process of launching a new affiliate program.

After hearing rumblings about a WFP affiliate program, I spoke with several individuals who were approached by the WFP to discuss having their gym join the new venture.

Here’s what I learned…

Cost. The cost to join the affiliate program will be $2,000 USD. The WFP is looking for 50 founding members of the Fitness Project, which appears to be the name of their affiliate program.

It is unclear if the affiliate fee will increase after the first 50 affiliates sign up or whether the Fitness Project will continue to add affiliates after the initial 50.

Requirements to Join. Whereas CrossFit requires an individual to obtain a Level 1 Certificate to become a CrossFit affiliate owner, it does not appear there are any specific requirements for a gym to become a WFP affiliate at the current time.

Affiliate Benefits. Those who spoke with Saxon Panchik and others about becoming an affiliate said they did not receive specifics, but that the WFP would help drive people into their gym, provide marketing resources and subject-matter experts to help them as an affiliate owner.

The affiliate owners were also told that if a future WFP Tour Event is in their area, the WFP would drive some of the top athletes to their gym for activations in the days leading up to the competition.

Oh, and one more perk of being a Fitness Project affiliate, you get five free tickets to a WFP event!

REC LEAGUE

In addition to sharing information about becoming a Fitness Project affiliate, Panchik and team spoke about a new ‘Rec League” that would be launching soon.

The Rec League was positioned as a way to “keep members engaged” throughout the year. The World Fitness Project has two online qualifiers this year for Challengers to qualify for the Tour Events. There is also the World Fitness Trials, the qualifier to compete at the World Fitness Finals in December in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In the same conversation about affiliation, the concept of a “Rec League” was brought up. Considered the recreational track, the Rec League will be a two-week online competition that runs every three months.

The Rec League will be inclusive to athletes of all fitness levels and modalities. The WFP will provide affiliate owners weekly training resources to help their athletes prepare for upcoming Rec League challenges. Additionally, WFP affiliate owners will receive “cash back” for member sign-ups.

WORLD FITNESS TRIALS

The World Fitness Trials is now being described as an “annual online competition” that consists of six workouts over the course of three weeks. There will be multiple divisions, a worldwide leaderboard.

Like the Rec League, WFP affiliate owners will receive training resources for their gym and cash back for member participation.
