Jayson Hopper’s journey with HWPO over the past four years has been quite the rollercoaster. From working his way up to 7th place at the CrossFit Games in 2022 to moving to Vermont in 2023 followed by burn-out and a disappointing 31st finish. And then this past season Hopper moved back to South Carolina, but almost finished on the podium in Ft. Worth.
Now, heading into his fifth Games season, Hopper is making a training camp change. Hopper is leaving HWPO and joining Brute. He will be coached by Elcanah Senouvor, or more commonly known as Coach El.
“The reason I’m leaving HWPO and going to Brute is simply…I’m just ready for change. I’ve been doing the same sort of program, the same structure of the season, the same coaches, the same set of eyes on me. Even the same techniques on all these things,” shared Hopper in a short three-minute video on YouTube (below).
Hopper continued that he wants to win the CrossFit Games and he believes Coach El and Brute can help him achieve that goal.Â
Hopper shared that he is leaving HWPO on good terms and thanked Mat Fraser, Matt O’Keefe, Jake Marconi and the rest of the HWPO team for his time there.
Hopper joins a loaded Brute roster that now includes three of the top four male athletes at the 2024 CrossFit Games. James Sprague and Dallin Pepper took 1st and 3rd, respectively, at the Games, and Hopper finished 4th overall. Sprague and Pepper work with Matt Torres.
Additionally, on the women’s side Brute coaches Danielle Brandon, Fee Saghafi and Kelsey Kiel. Brandon and Kiel both work with Coach El.
